About Our Chapter
Child bedlessness is a national problem, and as a national nonprofit with chapters spread across the country, SHP has provided the solution. We are a volunteer organization that builds beds for kids who are sleeping on the floor and there are multiple ways to get involved right here on our CAN-MB-Winnipeg page.
In Winnipeg, it is estimated that 4,000 of our children sleep on the floor – without a proper bed. With the help of volunteers, donors, and our partner organizations in the community, we are on a mission to ensure no child sleeps on the floor in our city, and this week’s build and donation drive is just the beginning.
Photos of deliveries are available for media use on this Google Drive URL.

Bunks Across Canada 2021: SHP’s second annual National Build Day
Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Winnipeg is participating in their second annual national bed building
event, Bunks Across Canada, where all Canadian chapters will gather in their respective cities on the
same day to build beds for donation to local children in need.
With the support of public volunteers and staff from local Lowe’s and Rona stores, SHP Winnipeg’s Bunks
Across Canada event will see volunteers cutting, sanding, drilling, staining and branding lumber for
building 60 beds, exceeding last year’s goal of 50 beds built.
This year, we’re excited to announce that Lowe’s Canada has come onboard as a national sponsor
for Bunks Across Canada for all chapters. Here in Winnipeg Lowe’s at Panet Road will be hosting the
event on-site and supplying all the lumber required to build the twin-size beds.
SHP Winnipeg is welcoming the public and the media to stop by to learn about SHP’s mission and
future initiatives, and to contribute to their ‘Drive-By Donation Drop-Off’ – where volunteers will be
collecting new twin-size bedding/bed-in-a-bag, new pillows, new twin-size mattresses, cash or
cheque donations. All donations will receive a charitable receipt.
